Del Mar Woods...
             Our Little Brigadoon!

Brigadoon On The North Shore!

Del Mar Woods, a small unincorporated area on Chicago’s North Shore, is tucked away between Bannockburn on the South and West, and forest preserve on the North and East.

Established in the 1920’s as a residential area for domestics servicing Lake Foresters, Del Mar Woods has long since come into its own. Today, many of the original homes have been expanded beyond recognition or completely replaced by much larger models.

This primary purpose of this website is to keep you informed of activities in and around Del Mar Woods. Other informative items will be added from time to time.

The Del Mar Woods website is sponsored as a public service by OrderDepartment.com. The “Hot Topic” of the day seems to center around a massive change in character facing Del Mar Woods. As of September 12, 2005, there have been 16 teardowns, 14 of which have been, or are in the process of being replaced with much larger, two story homes.

But that’s not the only cause for concern among some residents: a major concern seems to be the loss of character of “The Woods” itself. In addition, loss of trees in the path of the new construction and infrastructure damage have residents concerned.
